Antique Chinese Lacquered Walnut Apothecary Chest
$ 2,199.99
This 19th-century walnut chest was originally used by a Chinese pharmacy to organize and store herbal medicines. This is truly one of the nicest we have seen. A statement piece brilliantly constructed with mortise and tenon joinery, it has thirty drawers, each beautifully dovetailed together with six individual compartments. Paper labels designating the former contents of each drawer provide graphic rhythm to the chest’s front, contrasting against the wood’s rich, dark lacquer finish. The smaller drawers have dividers, giving 4 compartments. Bottom larger drawers are undivided.
